Lesson 1

Traversing:

Goal:
To traverse across the hill riding switch and able to stay balanced and controlled on an edge.

How:

Begin by steering and travelling across the hill. (Same as the falling leaf)

Once moving, reduce the twist and focus on even tilt under both feet. Keep your basic stance in the direction of travel to keep the snowboard traversing across the slope (Looking to where you want to go).

To stop at the other side pivot the snowboard back across the fall line or slightly look and point up the slope while slightly increasing tilt.

Repeat in the other direction by rolling over and starting on the new edge.

STEP 1 :Weight on leading foot
STEP 2: Look and point to where you want to go
STEP 3 : Slow down by having even weight on both feet.

Where:

Beginner slopes (green trails), ski school learning area.

Exercise:

Practice switch traverses until you can hold an edge and stay balanced over your snowboard with a good basic stance.
