Lesson 14
Lesson 3
Goal:
Ride up the wall past the Lip and change edges out of the half pipe.
How:
Start by riding straight up the wall with forward momentum, this time instead of performing a hop jump on the wall, we are going to let the momentum of our trajectory carry us out of the pipe and position our body mid-air so that when we come back into the pipe we will naturally land on our new edge.
All the movements are the same except for the jumping off both feet. Upper body movement remains the same so it should feel pretty natural when you actually leave the lip.
The key here is fluid motions, flat base at the top of the lip, flexing down through the transitions and base of the pipe, extending and flattening out the snowboard on the walls again.
Keeping your basic stance in check here is massive, stay perpendicular to the walls and always visualize the movements before leaving the Lip.
Control your speed by steering your snowboard more vertical, once you get comfortable with speed, start projecting your board more down the pipe to gain more height.
Stay relaxed and keep your COM low.
NOTE: DO NOT OLLIE OUT OF THE PIPE! Have a Flat base and let the walls natural path carry you out and back in!
