Small 7 big Turn shapes:

Lesson 1

Goal:
To learn to control the riding line and speed of descent down the mountain, and to give you more options when riding open turns.

Closed turns will help you control or decrease speed...

How:
Now it's time to test your skill set, I want you to alternate between the two patterns I have below when you are riding!

Funnel and the hour glass exercise:

Goal:
Make big closed turns, working your way down to small closed turns, ride like this the whole way down the mountain.

STEP 1 :
It is important to not that you will have to adjust your timing when performing these exercises, the tempo of your flexion and extension will vary depending on the size of your turn. (faster or slower)

STEP 2 :
Also, make sure you are using anticipation and foot peddling during this exercise. really try to focus on keeping a solid Basic stance and staying relaxed at the same time.

Once you have completed one run, try the same exercise next time using the hourglass pattern.
This is how you get good at riding steep terrain, the more you practice the better you become.

Where:

Green/blue runs

Exercise:

Practice this exercise at least 2 times per run, ideally you will get to the point where everything becomes natural.
