Lesson 1

Goal:
The reason we perform the falling leaf is to teach us more about pressure control (Steering) and balance.

How HEELS:IMAGE OF FALLING LEAF OVERVIEW
Step 1 :Start in the side slipping position, even weight on both feet and in a flexed stationary position (you should not be moving)

Step 2 :This time when you extend to start your slide, I want you to apply more weight on the leading foot and look and point across the hill to the left hand side of the run. (Right or left, doesn’t matter)

Step 3 :Whatever direction you decide to travel in, always have the weight on that foot.

Your snowboard will start moving in that direction, maintain your basic stance, head up and looking to where you want to go.

Step 4 :As you come closer to the edge of the trail, slowly start slowing down by applying even pressure to both feet again.

This will bring your snowboard back across the fall line and enable you to flex down into the snowboard edge slowing or stopping your decent!

Goal:
The reason we perform the falling leaf is to teach us more about pressure control (Steering) and balance.

HOW TOES:
Now, extend up and look and point in the opposite direction. Use the same principle to slow down and change direction again.

If you are struggling with speed control, look and point up the hill a little more. Play around with your steering by using your upper body.

Repeat this process with your toe side edge!

Where:
Any green runs or beginner slopes. Practice this on both edges until you can get down the hill comfortably and in any direction.

Exercise:
Practice this until down green runs for 2-3 laps, you should be able to direct your snowboard in either direction easily.
