Lesson 4

FrontBoard:

Goal:
To do a Frontboard on a Rail or Box

Flat Box:

How:

As you come on to the Feature, keep your weight over the front foot and twist your upper body in opposite directions to your lower, keep a flat base and look under your leading arm.

Have bent knees and keep your Center of mass low if you can. It is important to note that this trick has major consiquences if you catch an edge... make sure you have good speed control and feel comfortable sliding on a rail in a blind position.

Flat down Frontboard:

How:
Same as the flat box but this time we are going to be on a downward feature. Start off with the 50/50 and when you come to the apex of the feture, twist your upper body in the opposite direction from your lower.

Keep the weight centered or over the front foot depending on where you are on the feature...You have to comit to having your snowboard flat on the down section, it should feel like you are pushing your heels down the rail.

Stay slightly broken at the waist so you are not leaning back, look under the front arm to spot your landing and absorb the impact with soft knees.

Long Box:

How:
The only difference here is the amount of speed you are taking into the rail (more), start by Frontboarding the last half of the rail and then gradually move the Frontboard back so eventually you can complete the whole rail.

Exactly the same principle as when doing it on smaller boxes...remember to ALWAYS visualize the trick before doing it!
